Michel Laforge - Past PresidentMike is a PhD Candidate in the Wildlife Evolutionary Ecology Lab at Memorial University. A passion for exploration and the outdoors has led him to a career in wildlife research. His current research focuses on migration timing and habitat selection of caribou with respect to forage acquisition. His previous wildlife work has involved studies on deer, moose, polar bears and wild boar.

Travis Heckford - PresidentTravis is a Ph.D. Candidate at Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he is researching the ecological stoichiometric relationship of a plant-snowshoe hare-canada lynx food web. He completed his undergraduate degree in biology and geography and a GIS diploma at Vancouver Island University and has worked on several species at risk projects with the BC Ministry of Environment. As an amateur naturalist he enjoys birding, learning about local ecology, and participating in outdoor events. He is passionate about wildlife conservation and is excited to serve on the executive for the Newfoundland and Labrador chapter.

Levi Newediuk President-ElectLevi is a PhD student in the Wildlife Evolutionary Ecology Lab at Memorial University of Newfoundland. With a background in landscape conservation in Manitoba, Levi is interested in the implications of human landscape modification for habitat selection by ungulate species including elk and caribou. He is looking forward to integrating into Atlantic conservation community with the Newfoundland and Labrador chapter.

Katrien Kingdon - Secretary TreasurerKatrien is a Ph.D. student at Memorial University of Newfoundland where she is researching the influence of linear features on wolf and moose movement, as well as the resulting shift in predator-prey dynamics. She completed her undergraduate degree in biology at Dalhousie University, additionally studying the effects of chronic noise exposure on nestling tree swallows. Katrien looks forward to serving on the executive of the Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter and joining the current promotion of wildlife conservation and stewardship across the province.

Patrick Lauriault - Graduate RepPrior to my time in Newfoundland, I was a cegep student in Montreal where I was trained to be a general field technician. After my time in Cegep I spent a few months in Costa Rica to work on a tropical rainforest growth monitoring program. I completed my BSc at MUN December 2017 and I look forward to my next step as a Master’s student working with cyanolichens here in Newfoundland. In my spare time I enjoy fishing, biking, downhill ski and hiking.

Samson Tang - Undergraduate RepSamson is an undergraduate student at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he recently completed his BSc. in Marine Biology. When he's not organizing & photographing the events of the undergrad biology student society (MUN BIOS), he enjoys exploring the natural wonders Newfoundland has to offer (weather permitting, of course), jamming with his friends, and reading comics. As a member of the new exec and lover of all things marine, he wishes to involve the undergrad student body as much as possible this year, and he cannot wait to see what adventures NLTWS has in store for everyone.
