CANDIDATE AT MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OF NEWFOUNDLAND, WHERE HE IS RESEARCHING THE ECOLOGICAL STOICHIOMETRIC RELATIONSHIP OF A PLANT-SNOWSHOE HARE-CANADA LYNX FOOD WEB. HE COMPLETED HIS UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE IN BIOLOGY AND GEOGRAPHY AND A GIS DIPLOMA AT VANCOUVER ISLAND UNIVERSITY AND HAS WORKED ON SEVERAL SPECIES AT RISK PROJECTS WITH THE BC MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT. AS AN AMATEUR NATURALIST HE ENJOYS BIRDING, LEARNING ABOUT LOCAL ECOLOGY, AND PARTICIPATING IN OUTDOOR EVENTS. HE IS PASSIONATE ABOUT WILDLIFE CONSERVATION AND IS EXCITED TO SERVE ON THE EXECUTIVE FOR THE NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR CHAPTER.

Levi Newediuk PresidentLEVI IS A PHD STUDENT IN THE WILDLIFE EVOLUTIONARY ECOLOGY LAB AT MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OF NEWFOUNDLAND. WITH A BACKGROUND IN LANDSCAPE CONSERVATION IN MANITOBA, LEVI IS INTERESTED IN THE IMPLICATIONS OF HUMAN LANDSCAPE MODIFICATION FOR HABITAT SELECTION BY UNGULATE SPECIES INCLUDING ELK AND CARIBOU. HE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO INTEGRATING INTO ATLANTIC CONSERVATION COMMUNITY WITH THE NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR CHAPTER.

Jack Hendrix - President-ElectJack is a PhD student at Memorial University, where they are studying social plasticity of caribou and how this may vary in time and space across a heterogeneous landscape. Their previous research at the University of Guelph involved the vocalizations & territorial behaviour of red squirrels in Yukon. They are keen to get more involved in wildlife conservation and research in Newfoundland.

Katrien Kingdon - Secretary TreasurerKatrien is a Ph.D. student at Memorial University of Newfoundland where she is researching the influence of linear features on wolf and moose movement, as well as the resulting shift in predator-prey dynamics. She completed her undergraduate degree in biology at Dalhousie University, additionally studying the effects of chronic noise exposure on nestling tree swallows. Katrien looks forward to serving on the executive of the Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter and joining the current promotion of wildlife conservation and stewardship across the province.

Bella Richmond - Graduate RepBella is an M.Sc. candidate in the Landscape Ecology & Spatial Analysis lab at Memorial University. She is researching ecological trade-offs across a dynamic landscape, focusing on boreal plant stoichiometry and snowshoe hare predation risk. Originally from Kitchener, ON, she completed her B.Sc. in Environmental Science at the University of Ottawa before moving to St. John’s in 2018. She is passionate about interdisciplinary approaches to conservation, making science accessible, and GIS. Bella is very excited to be a part of the Newfoundland & Labrador chapter of The Wildlife Society this year.
